The Role of Storytelling in Everyday Life

Hannah Nicklin, Creative Director & CEO of Die Gute Fabrik

Hannah Nicklin is a British writer, game designer, academic, and artist working at the confluence of game & narrative design, writing, and digital art. Her work is always concerned with finding the right forms and techniques to allow a story and its community or characters to flourish in a compelling and original manner.

Following a decade-long freelance career in the spaces between performance, writing, and play, Hannah is currently the Creative Director and CEO of Die Gute Fabrik, an indie games studio based in Copenhagen.

Die Gute Fabrik recently launched the multi-award-winning MUTAZIONE, a mutant soap opera, for which Hannah wrote and designed the narrative. In MUTAZIONE the juicy gossip is just as important as the supernatural adventure part of the game. The game is available on PC, Playstation, and Apple Arcade.

The game has received a warm response, including being the most nominated game at the 2020 IGF awards, winning Best Audio, and being nominated for 4 categories at Spilprisen where it won Best Narrative. Further wins and nominations include The Nordic Game Awards, Pocketgamer of the Year Awards, and more.
